Healthy Living Market opens Halfmoon store Oct. 15

News October 9, 2026 5 min read Suggest a correction

Healthy Living, the natural foods grocer that runs the store at the Wilton Mall, opens its fourth location on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 8 a.m. in the new 146 Marketplace development in Halfmoon, NEWS10 reported. A ceremonial ribbon cutting is set for Wednesday, Oct. 14, the day before the doors open to the public.

The Halfmoon store is 25,000 square feet and will be similar to the Wilton Mall store, with expanded food programs and products, Healthy Living CEO Eli Lesser-Goldsmith previously told NEWS10. Because the store has not opened yet, it is not in our directory; the existing Healthy Living listing covers the Wilton Mall store.

Opening day at a glance

Here are the details for shoppers, according to NEWS10.

  • Opening day is Thursday, Oct. 15, with doors opening at 8 a.m.
  • The store will be open every day from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • The store is in 146 Marketplace, off Route 146 in Halfmoon.
  • The ribbon cutting is Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Who Healthy Living is

Katy Lesser founded Healthy Living in 1986, and her son, Eli Lesser-Goldsmith, is now chief executive, Supermarket News reported. The company started in Vermont and still runs two stores there, in South Burlington and Williston, along with the Wilton Mall store, which has a Saratoga Springs address but sits in the Town of Wilton. Halfmoon makes four, according to NEWS10.

Saratoga County shoppers have had a Healthy Living since March 2013, when the company opened its second store in the former J.C. Penney space at the Wilton Mall, the Glens Falls Business Journal reported at the time. That store took 35,000 square feet, and the family said then that they had wanted to open in Saratoga for some time and liked the mall for its easy access and parking. When it opened, the Wilton store had a cafe with food made on site, an espresso and juice bar and a wine shop, according to the Business Journal. The Halfmoon store, at 25,000 square feet, is smaller than the space the Wilton store opened with. When the Wilton store marked 10 years in 2023, the company pointed to the store’s relationships with local business owners and suppliers whose products are on the shelves, WNYT reported.

The stores focus on fresh, local and organic products, with prepared foods alongside groceries. In the Supermarket News interview, Lesser-Goldsmith called the company’s growth plan “sustainable but aggressive” and said the company aims to be the Northeast’s leader among midsize natural foods grocers. He also described the stores as built around hospitality and in-store prepared food, with click-and-collect and delivery for shoppers who want them. The company’s prepared food program is led by Matt Jennings, a James Beard-nominated chef who is vice president of culinary, according to the interview.

For Halfmoon and Clifton Park shoppers, the new store puts a Healthy Living much closer to home than the Wilton Mall.

What 146 Marketplace is

The grocery is the first big tenant in 146 Marketplace, a mixed-use development by Luizzi Companies, which also manages properties in Troy, Green Island, Niskayuna and Colonie, according to NEWS10. The site is on land at the northeast corner of Route 146 and Old Route 146, Construction Review Online reported when the Halfmoon Town Board created a planned development district for the project in 2023.

The development broke ground in October 2025. NEWS10 reported these plans for the project.

  • Nine buildings with apartments, office space and retail when the project is complete.
  • About 150 apartments available within two years of the groundbreaking.
  • A total of 328 apartments and 80,000 square feet of retail space after the next two phases.
  • A signed lease with a coffee shop the developer described as “nationally recognized,” which has not been named.

The project has been years in the works. The Halfmoon Town Board approved the zone change for a planned development district in October 2023, and the town Planning Board later approved the first phase, according to Zoey 103.9, which cited the Albany Business Review. Mike Alix, president of Peter Luizzi & Bros., said then that site grading and utility work would start soon, and the plan called for building the commercial space closest to Route 146 before the apartments, the station reported. The land was owned by local businessman Scott Earl. The station described Halfmoon as one of the state’s fastest-growing towns, with roughly 26,400 residents.

Construction Review Online described the project in 2023 as a $160 million development of 10 buildings modeled on the company’s Starbuck Island project in Green Island, with underground parking and pools. NEWS10’s current description is nine buildings, so the counts differ between the two reports.

What it means for the Route 146 corridor

Our read: a full-size grocery open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day gives Halfmoon shoppers a new reason to stop at this end of Route 146, and the apartments planned on the site would eventually put hundreds of households next door to the store. The opening is also the first test of whether 146 Marketplace fills out as planned. The grocery is the anchor; the unnamed coffee shop and the first apartments will show whether the rest of the project follows on schedule.

What happens next

A few things are still to come, according to NEWS10.

  • The store opens Oct. 15, and we will add a directory listing for the Halfmoon location once it is open.
  • The coffee shop tenant has not been announced.
  • The first apartments are expected within two years of the October 2025 groundbreaking.
