About
The Mohawk Towpath Scenic Byway Coalition is the nonprofit that manages the Mohawk Towpath National Scenic Byway, a signed driving route that follows the Mohawk River and the old Erie Canal from Waterford and Cohoes through Halfmoon, Clifton Park and Rexford to Schenectady’s Stockade district. The route passes canal locks, towpath trails and villages with buildings dating to the 1670s.
The coalition publishes itineraries, key attractions and guides to bicycling, hiking, boating, birding, fishing and winter sports along the route, and lists places to stay, dine and shop. A Friends of the Byway membership program and events support the work.
