Gaffney’s is a bar and restaurant at 16 Caroline Street, at the corner of Putnam Street in downtown Saratoga Springs, best known for its large outdoor patio bar. Davis and Roxanne Mead opened Gaffney’s in 1978, John Baker ran the place from 1982 to 2016, and after a closure of nearly two years the bar reopened on May 1, 2026 under new owners.
The building, put up in 1903 by John Gaffney, has two indoor bar areas, the patio and apartments upstairs. An LLC controlled by Scott and Kristine Grodsky bought the foreclosed property for $3.5 million, according to Roohan Realty, and the reopened Gaffney’s came back with a revamped patio, live music and a new lounge called the Parlor.
