Tang Dumplings and Kuma Ani bring noodles to Saratoga

Two Asian noodle restaurants are joining the dining scene in Saratoga Springs this fall. Tang Dumplings was scheduled to open on September 16, 2026, in the former Smashburger space at 46 Marion Avenue, and Capital Region ramen chain Kuma Ani is preparing to open its fourth location at 23-25 Division Street downtown, with an opening expected in October, according to NEWS10 and other local reports.

Both are counter-style, casual spots, a category that has been thin in downtown Saratoga Springs. Neither is in our directory yet: we could not independently confirm that Tang Dumplings opened on schedule, and Kuma Ani had not opened when we checked. We will add both once they are open.

Tang Dumplings on Marion Avenue

Tang Dumplings is a small chain with a location in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, a town just outside Hershey, which founder Harris Siu said had been open for about eight months when he spoke to NEWS10 in early September. Siu said the company has two other locations in the works in addition to Saratoga Springs.

Siu told NEWS10 that friends in the local restaurant business introduced him to the area. “We really like the community and felt that the area and its customer base would be a great fit for the Tang Dumplings concept,” he said.

What NEWS10 reported about the Saratoga location:

• The address is 46 Marion Avenue, in the plaza where Smashburger used to be.
• The opening date was set for Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
• Planned hours are 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with extended hours until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
• The menu is expected to match the Hummelstown location: bao, pan-fried and deep-fried dumplings, ramen, noodles, fried rice, soup, general tso’s chicken and orange chicken.

City records show a signage application for Tang Dumplings at 46 Marion Avenue filed earlier this year, according to the city’s online document archive. The same plaza is home to KRU Coffee, which lists 46 Marion Avenue as its address.

Kuma Ani on Division Street

Kuma Ani is a locally owned chain that already has restaurants in Albany, Latham and Troy, according to Saratoga Living and NEWS10. The Saratoga Springs restaurant will be its fourth Capital Region location.

The new restaurant is going into the former home of Saratoga’s Community Federal Credit Union at 23-25 Division Street, NEWS10 reported in July. Division Street runs west off Broadway at the north end of downtown, a block from the Woodlawn Avenue garage.

What to expect, based on published reports:

• Order-at-the-counter service, described by Saratoga Living as affordable.
• Ramen made with house-made noodles, including tonkotsu, spicy tori, gyu, vegan and birria versions, plus build-your-own bowls, according to Saratoga.com.
• Ban mein noodle bowls, donburi rice bowls, steamed buns, gyoza and Japanese fried chicken.
• Bubble tea.
• An opening sometime this fall; Saratoga.com listed October 2026.

Kuma Ani started in Albany with a sushi theme before expanding into ramen, noodle bowls and rice bowls, the Times Union reported when the chain opened a Wolf Road location in Colonie in 2019.

By 2019, the chain had added a location at 109 Wolf Road in Colonie, focused on ramen, ban mein and donburi, plus quick-serve counters at Crossgates Mall and the Empire State Plaza, the Times Union reported at the time. Its original Albany restaurant opened on New Scotland Avenue.

Why these openings matter

Downtown Saratoga has plenty of sit-down restaurants and bars, but fewer quick, inexpensive lunch options, especially for Asian food. Saratoga Living framed Kuma Ani’s arrival as a boost for Spa City lunches. For workers downtown and for Skidmore students, a counter-service noodle shop fills a gap between delis and full-service dining rooms.

On Marion Avenue, Tang Dumplings replaces a national burger chain with a small, growing chain that has only one other open location. A plaza address away from Broadway also means diners avoid the downtown parking crunch, which could make it an easy takeout stop.

Other recent food news downtown

These two openings follow a busy stretch for restaurants in the city. A few recent changes we have confirmed:

• Three Daughters Kitchen & Cocktails opened to the public inside the Saratoga Arms Hotel in February 2026, NEWS10 reported.
• Chipotle opened a downtown Saratoga Springs location in late 2025, according to Saratoga TODAY.
• Noah’s Italian, from Siro’s executive chef Noah Frese, is in the former District space at 43 Phila Street, which NEWS10 reported when the plans were announced in 2025.

What we still need to confirm

• Whether Tang Dumplings opened on September 16 as planned, and its phone number and final hours.
• Kuma Ani’s opening date, hours and phone number for the Saratoga Springs location.
• Parking arrangements at 23-25 Division Street, which sits in a busy downtown block.
• Whether either restaurant will offer delivery or online ordering at launch.

The Division Street block

Kuma Ani will share a short stretch of Division Street with an established neighbor. Seneca, the restaurant at 17 Division Street, was opened by husband-and-wife chefs Mike and Michelle Spain, who previously cooked at Druthers in Saratoga Springs, according to the Times Union. A counter-service ramen shop and a full-service dining room a few doors apart gives the block two very different price points.

The building at 23-25 Division Street was most recently home to Saratoga’s Community Federal Credit Union, according to NEWS10, and the Kuma Ani lease puts a lunch-friendly restaurant on a block known mostly for evening dining. Division Street is also a short walk from the Saratoga Springs City Center and the Woodlawn Avenue garage, the city’s largest, which is free with time limits outside the summer paid-parking season.
